Andrea Gail

You prolly remember some images of this boat in my stormy ocean scene. Well, I drew a rough sketch of it yesterday based on photos I found of the boat and started modeling it from scratch. Here's the sketch...

Not sure what do you mean. Here's another shot. Please tell if you see something off (by drawing on top of this image or something)...

The Banana Dances again

I want to praise you on your work on the hull kman!

My guess is, it will only take a small amount of "stuff" onto the hull and deck to bring this baby into the close to real catergory.

Believe you me, I definetly know what its like when you increase the Poly count!! (take my furby for instance) Takes forever to render, but its the price you have to pay if you want to stick out from the croud. Love the detail man, Great work. user added image the more you show the more I want to see!! Kinda like speed (not the drug) Like going fast. lol

wow! thats simply stunning!
how long has it taken you to get to this stage?
and how do you model sumthing like that? do you have about 700 seperate models just put together to make it look like one model?

Thanks. Sorry about the dark images. I am going for a night time lighting so there won't be anything else than moon light and the ship lights.

I'm doing some UV work atm so it's gonna take some time until next updates...

Whee... Got so exited after I completed UV mapping the hull. This is where the fun begins -> painting textures user added image. Big thank you goes to Danny Ngan. His UV Tools scripts made the mapping process whole lotta easier!

Here's some taste of the results I got:

Started messing around with the textures. What do you think? Too rusty? What about the scale of the dents? I know the placement of the dents and dirt isn't realistic but I want to get the overall feel nailed down first...

Undseth took the words right outta my mouth!!!!

KILLER MAN!!! looking GREAT!

The bump depth is perfect for the map you are using, and feel free to actually model some deeper dent's if you want, as I've gotten the chance to see the actual "prop" boat up-close once, and it was dented to helluser added image

PERFECT texturing man!

I think I speak for ALL of us, when I say that it would be a CRIME if you did NOT do a quick OR long tutorial on how you textured this boat sometime in the near future!!! user added image

NICE JOB!!

I see GALLERY written all over the keel of this boat when your final shot is done man!
