Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 2
This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

Cannot Shatter

For some reasons all of the objects in my scene will not shatter. I've tried deleting the history, but that didn't help. I tried creating a primitive, and that shattered fine. So it's something about my objects it doesn't like.

Any thoughts?

Not sure. Can you post some examples of what you can't shatter?

Check to see that it doesn´t have non-manifold geometry too.

Well I don't know what that is. Can you explain?

Here is a piece of my model that will not shatter. I'm working in 4.5, fyi.

Thanks for the help,

Well, still not sure but it might be because your model is not "clean". You might want to try and split the faces until every edge is looping around the model. Maintaining quad faces helps in many cases...

I just tried a quick way with the Polygon -> Cleanup with "Tessellate / Faces with more than 4 sides" on and after that it shattered... not very nice result though...

Ah, I see what happened. I need to manually clean up some of my geometry before I shatter. (split the faces)

Thanks.
