just trying a texture out and a scene really difficult is this project not sure what to do or how to get a better texture user added image

the leather one in maya with a bump map of it too.

Get yourself some reptilian skin photos. The higher the resolution the better. Google's image search is and awesome resource. Then piece these together on your UV map in PS. Above all just take your time and use all the tools PS has to offer.
