Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Mix20layer equivelant for maya 2008?

Hi,

to render a layered texture on an sss shader in mental ray in maya 8.5 you could use the mix20layer (maya's own layerd shader won't work).

Does anyone know what you can use in maya 2008? I don't believe that the mix20layer works.

cheers

gubar

I think that the mix 20 shader works with maya 08

Thanks gster, I've had some bad information then. Makes life a lot easier.

Once more question - will my current maya (installed on my 32 but machine) work on a 64 bit comp? Or are there different versions?

thanks,

gubar

There are different versions for 64 and 32 bit, but I think that the 32 bit version will work with the 64 bit Os, just that you wont be able to get any advantages if the 64 bit OS (more ram etc etc)
