Viewport problem Maya 2008 on Vista

Hey, my friend has this problem on her VAIO laptop. It has a NVidia GFX card, and this problem has been persistent. Her laptop runs 3ds max fine, and meets all the required specifications for Maya 2008.

Can you help me out here?
The attached file should explain how her viewport looks.
