Default maya2010 mac shelves/marking menus

Hello,

I'm having a problem setting up marking menus as well as adding tools to shelves in the Mac Maya 2010 trial.

Only certain tools can be added to marking menus ( create prims) but extrude, split poly, combine etc. just wont work when I copy the line from the script editor. I've tried every combination I can think of from the script editor output, but when I try the marking menu - nothing. Has anyone else noticed this?

So I gave up on the the marking menus and just tried adding tools to my "polygon shelf" It will only allow me to add "delete by type History" and nothing else. To add this, I held down control/shift and then left clicked on delete by type history.
Then I thought, maybe it won't allow you to add to default shelves, so I tried it in the custom shelf, which only allows me to add "append a face tool"??? and nothing else.

Needless to say, I can't seem to get to work here. Please help!!!:headbang:
