Just another angle, the main hull does need texturing but I do not have the time will try and fit that in at the end (if I run out of time I will finish after). Things to do
1.Get the thing moving along a curve (Ive done that once before dont think it was that hard)
2.Jet engine thrust, burn
3.Some rocket hiting engine
4.Explostion
What could go wrong LOL.........dave

If its a big ship, maybe make a cone shape for the engine, then againt it depends on the overall look that your after.

If your following a curve, i.e. a motion path, then use it as a start and bake it to keys for adjustment. moton paths never get to the full look on their own.

I was trying to get a clean burn look but could not find any thing like that on the net, I will try you suggestion for a cone, I think it not a big ship but twice the size of are largest transporters...........dave

I think you have mis under stoud, I was looking for maya particle tut for a clean burn exaust not to remodel it, I think gster123 was refuring to the light comming through the mesh..........thanks again..........dave

LOL cool as mate... I havent been sleeping well and Ive just scored a 12 month City redevelopment. Im dreaming Survey ATM...you should see the nightmare design I have. Looks like I will be learning 3D in AutoCAD again!!! So may services etc under little laneways etc etc...this is going to take me away from Maya for a while...siiigghhhhhh. Oh well I can watch you 2 hard at it instead
