Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Tutorial on creating skyscraper buildings with polygons

I need to model a in city art deco style
what's the best approach to modeling the
buildings using polygons?, Are tutorials on
modeling buildings in Maya.

Also I attempted to create a building using
polygon extrude face. I had some trouble selecting
faces. For example if I selected the top of
a cube with 12 faces and I only want to select
the middle 8 faces, it selects them but when I
check in the perspective view it selects other
faces that I don't want. How do select the
faces I want without maya selecting other
faces that I don't want!

thanx in advance!

If you drag-select faces, vertices, or edges, Maya will automatically select whatever is behind that object. The key is to either position your camera exactly where you want it, then select what you want, or select everything you want, then make use of the ctrl key and deselect stuff afterwards.

Hold down ctrl, then drag around or just single click objects you don't want selected. Hold down the shift key to select more faces/objects/vertices/edges.

I find paint selection invaluable for this too. Edit -> Paint selection. Hold (default) b and clickdrag to adjust size of the brush.
