missing attributes in the editor

I'm having this weird problem on a new Radeon 9800, where everything's fine except that certain attributes in the attribute editor are missing, ie, for a blinn, there's nothing under specular or raytracing etc. does anyone know why this is? or how to fix it? thanks in advance.

ok, never mind, I fixed it somehow. all I did was install the newest directx... um, thanks to all who thought about replying

I just got a new laptop and put maya on it. Some of my attributes are missing also. Such as File uploads and render globals. I dont understand that b/c Maya worked fine on my other computer. But my laptop does have the ATI Radeon 9800 like you said. What does it have to do with it? Thanks in advance if u can help me out cuz I really need this to work b/c I travel alot while I'm in school.

A post just came up and I need to explain how and what exaclty the problem is, maybe its not exactly like yours. Basically I'm missing my file attributes and render globals. For instance, if I select a blinn and map a file on the network. Under where its supposed to say file attributes and suppose to have a button to upload the file texture doesn't even exist. It just has the name file attribute with the drop down arrow but nothing in the actual attribute. Also on my render globals, when I click on maya software, the drop down menu for anti-aliasing Quality doesnt exist either. I'm using maya 5.0 unlimited. Pent. 3.4 Gigs, 1 gig RAM, ATI Radeon 9800 256mb. That should make it easier, thank you.

they all showed up (with no problems since) right after I installed DirectX 9.0c. hope this helps!

I installed directx 9.0 and it still isnt showing up. I also downloaded new drivers for the card. Its very strange is there anything else I could do?
