problems with dog tutorial

i tried to download the first section of the free "cartoon dog" tutorial. everything seemed fine, both files were fully installed onto my computer. Although, when i opened the video file there was only sound and no video. Im new to maya and this website so im not sure if thats all your supposed to get with a free package. does anyone know how i can fix this problem?

Have you downlowed the DVDX codec?

yeah gster is right, have you got DVDX codec? also if do you have the latest windows media player? or xvid codecs? here are some links to download it...
