Trouble in creating blend shapes

i m trying to create a face blend shape for my polygon model but i keep getting the error tht no deformable objects selected.... i cant seem to figure out the problem pls help

you probably use blend shapes more than me, actually I don't use them at all so I'm safe saying you use the more than me, but.., I would assume you do not delete the history?? and it is curves that are controlled by blendshapse, so I think if you try to make a polygon object into a blendshape.

someone more knowledgeable about this will help.
