Theres lots of tutorials on rigging available on the net that should help you out, its not a simple thing to do though espcially when you come to painting weights and look to have FK/IK switchers onthe arms etc to make it easier to animate.
Like I said its not a simple task to do well, especially if you want the deformations to looks good.

As Steve said rigging is a time consuming and painful process especially when it comes to painting weights.

I've adopted the digital tutors method of rigging, with a few modified bits to make it a bit more helpful to me, ive not seen mikes tutorial so I couldent comment

Or you could try The Setup Machine (http://www.anzovin.com/setupmachine) awesome plugin that makes it possible to rig a character in 10 minutes.
