Split Polygon tool issues

Hi, I'm a maya noob having issues with the Split Polygon tool. I've Split two faces which has created a new vertice (call it 'A'). The issue starts after I have moved vertice A. Whenever I use the Split Poly tool again anywhere on the model (even nowhere near vertice A), it affects vertice A. Frustrating as hell. HELP please!!

Press "enter" when you have finished your cut and "delete" to go back a step, also press "Y" to reselect your last tool............dave

dave has got it..or you can also hit 'g' if you are going to cut again. Once you have done the last one hit 'q' and that will take you back to the selection tool (plain arrow).
