Newbie help plz with simple polygon shapes

What would the method be to create the legs of this monitor?
should i create a octagon shape extrude from the side and bevel the corners?

I would try it with a cylinder with 8 sides and extrude, try to smooth it out with "3", this should already give the desired result, depending on the extrusion.
