guys - Kurt is going to do a series of Paint cds for the shop and maybe a couple of tasters in the free area.

So one test is in wmv the other in divx.

The divx would be for the cds as is very clear and a high rate, I know of the whistle sound on the divx and am sorting now, but can you run them both / is there sound and picture etc?

need from pc and mac please

thx

the sound codec on the wmv is not working for me. and it could not be downloaded. so if the wmv is used as is, there should be a link to the codec. it is definately a differant codec than the other wmv tuts on SM, as they work for me. divx works fine though :)

edit: wmv misspelled

Divx worked fine but the wmv didn't play audio because it's using "Windows Media Audio 9 Voice" codec and I don't have it.

I believe wmv9/wma9 aren't official yet so media player couldn't download the codec automatically... Imho it would be better to use version 8 until 9 is official.

Hi Kevin,
I'm on a Mac. The avi is perfect. The wmv is a problem, missing codec message, no sound.
Hope this helps.

danny can you find athe codec for this? does it exist for the mac?
great on the AVI as this is the format going on the cds ...then if these are successfull we will have dvd also

AFAIK, the missing codec does not exist on the Mac. I used Windows Media Player for OSX, and it couldn't find a thing. I do know that WMP for OSX does not support the same features as WMP for Windows. I did some tests with Kbrown on his UV sets tutorial, and I think the only audio codec we got to work on the Mac was some form mpeg3 encoding (I think...).

you can't really tell if which one is better.
.WMV one is much smaller in size then div, but div has a higher frame per second rate.. well, I don't know... I really can't choose between these two...
mabe if yo make .wmv file with higher frame per second rate, then I deffenetelly will go with that..

here is what I think:

the DivX was AWSOME quality BUT I could hear a high picked sound in the background...that was bothering my ears

the WMV has crappier quality, and the sound is more dull... (the high picked sound is gone)

but I'd rather see teh better looking DivX :D

right just so you all know :)

the divx is going to be used on the cds not the vip area. We are trying to just get the mac users a little happier :)

but we have to stick with wmv for the vips as mikes / craigs pc cannot code in divx - well they can but they are HUGE

Im using a Mac:
I would prefer DivX as MP from MS skip too many video frames

AND: I just theted Kevin DivX testmovie. It works GREAT on my Mac. I wish the VIP tut mov would be also in this format. It would solve all the problems I have mit the MP from MS.

Kevin: could you reconsider your decision about the VIP tut format? I would be glad to sponsor you and the video production team if this can help...

Sorry Axel - this is almost impossible as every time mike does a movie for the vip area he would have to post to me as he has dial up.

The divx at the quality you have just seen is for the cds in the shop only.

I will try to find a solution for the macs but we are limited to what our movie guys can use

let me know (compare it to kurts last divx) and see if the whistle has gone, if this works this will go on the cds so choose wisely :)
