Wicket, well take a brake, is good for you.. you deserve one after last month. still think you did Great !! hay maybe we could get your GunDamn and this guy together for something in one render !! LOL
Vectorman thanks for the coments. will be working on throughs hands soon. and thoughs are good things to serch for on google.. will have to keep thoughs in mind.. |
Wicket, oh yeah. about the textures.. yeah a lot of the bone stuf will be just textured.. but the horns I will probly tweek in some wrinkels for groth rings.. as they will probly be big enufe for you to see raised ridges on the edges in a render.. and bump maps don't do that.. cant wait to try textrueing it. !!
|
Man, this stuff motivates me... the more i practice, and push myself, the better I will get.. with time. Anyways, just saying.. this is really good stuff to set as a goal for myself, its great!
|
jeez talk about fine tuning
|
First time I ever see a reference drawing measure up to the model in such a way, Excellent model pony.
|
ADL thanks man!!
M .. LOL thanks. happy to know it. and it aint to bad on the poly count eather.. 1600 faces unsmothed for this side.. its like so much better than the last model, ack ! 40,000 faces just for the upertorso.. (they'll get away from you fast doing things some ways. ) Vectorman, really hasn't bean a lot of tweeking yet. It just go pulled out right to that. Honist man. doing the teath and stuf is ware my time as went. |
Vectorman is right on there Pony - your reference and your 3d match 100 pro - i was wondering how that was going to turn out with the horns - you had it under control the whole time - what could i have been thinking ?!?
sweet. |
just a little more and tweeks

Well added the jaw.
but posted this pic becouse I started tweeking a little. the lumpyness above the nose I worked on. The eyes sockets are thicker on the rimbs. molers don't have as much of the funy bumps above them. Front teath are a little more rounded.. and .. and.. still working on it.. though considering putting the tweeks aside for now and getting on with the rest.. |
crapy angle for the render.. should change the lenz setting to 50mm insted of 35mm.
|
Looks amazing !
|
very sick! I was just saying when you posted the reference+the model and the red and green, it looked like the differences were pretty minor. You REALLY have a knack for viualizing man, and not only that but really making EXACTLY what you visualized!
Whis i could think visually, i think mostly auditory |
very nice

WHOAAA, coming along AWESOME!!! Man, how long did that take you to do the ribs? I need to learn some techiques, because if you did that all from moving polys, then WOW. I know its a WIP but the spikes on the back could be a bit more, rough.. i think. Once again, coming along great.
|
we really should have some timelapse videos cos i reckon theyd actually show people how these things are made
|
Thats a great idea (looks Awesome pony!)
|
Yep, i kinda agree nem.. but then on the other hand, dont you think everyone should have to learn their own way? Getting EVERYTHING handed to you is not always the best... i try to look at it that way sometimes, it makes you have a bigger passion for what you do if you got there from practice and hundreds of hours of hard work :).
|
ok Nem, and especaly vecterman. (who was nice enufe and got me cool rapter pic's)
I'll see what I can come up with for a little turit.. think I have justs the pic... |
whoa pony man, i was talkin about just you, dont think i was asking specifically :) I was just saying in general its a good idea to show people how the pros go about modelling sumthing cool
|
M.. !! LOL thanks.. umm yeah about the spikes.. will get to it. I was thinking thought about not really sharp on them. well see though.
yep it was pollys, and just some tweeks. first, I used split poly to make sure the edges formed the outline of the ribs. of corse with some crose points to make sure they hold there shap. I just selected the faces inbetween the ribs. extruded, and sized the faces down together, only in 2 directions. If there had bean the up and down direction also it would have twisted every thing. thin I moved them a little.. Did this one more time, extruded the faces and sized it down.. so that it sinks in to him more.. and this time on the last one.. I grabed all the top verts and moved them up a little.. and thin all the botem one and moved them down.. and that makes the rib round better and tucks the inside skin underthem. not long at all.. that part only toke me about 25 minets or less. |
Nem. LOL hay I'm not a pro, this is my second model. I just learn fast.
|
I strongly believe you do.

i call a Third DAMN. How in the he-.....I mean did you jus-....R U SERIOUS? i thought i learned quick.....
|
yes I am serious. I haven't even 3d modeld on some other 3d software. Do have a background in art. I just look at it like the same thing..
|
holy #$%^& man, just saw you're FIRST model and its WAY better than anything I've EVER done, i hope this is the begining of hobby, you definately have a nack (for art i guess) KEEP IT UP
Just interested, you just decided to go buy a $2000 program, and i dunno "learn 3d" ???????? |
a question asked.
1 Attachment(s)
it was asked how I did the ribs. well if your not intrested don't read farther. It's not like I'm a expert.
basiclly it was just like what I'm doing with the back. I select the faces ware its supost sink in, and extrude. I just scale them down in size insted of up.. when smothed this makes a indention like in pic 1. but not happy with that I need to make the edges harder. so I extrude agin like pic 2. shrenking it just a little more. thin I increase the size verticaly to tuck the edges of that face up onder the other some. like in pic 3. this gives the result when smothed like in pic 4. |
Thanks vectorman about thumbs up on the first one.. still would like to finish it.
about the 2000$ well I got it used from a nother guy in Kentucky that desided it was to much for what he wanted. so I got it cheeper. and.. I got maya becouse its the best, in my opinion. I wanted to really inprove my sence of space in my art and 3d is the way to do it I figered. I take my art a little more seriousy than my spelling !! |
Hi Pony,
it is looking nice... :) a lot have happend with it since the last time saw it... :) regards Strarup |
