Oh most of it was created in Maya and then i brought it over to vue for better refinement.

Cheers.

Heres the textured image.

Jay 05-03-2006 12:52 PM

Vue D'esprit, which one as theres 3 versions. You say you bought the model into it, is that the integrated version for Maya? I thought it may have work vice versa

Thats impressive vegetation, Ive been considering it myself, if its good enough for ILM...

Look forward to the rest

Jay

darijo203 05-03-2006 12:59 PM

Very impressive!

I like it alot.
Nice sky texture and plants are awsome!

concorddawned 05-03-2006 01:05 PM

Cheers Jay,

Its Vue 5 Infinte that im using, and its the standalone version. Some of the vegetation i created in maya and exported it as an obj to vue, i then textured it in vue aswell. Vue is an awesome program and i definatly reccomend it, and i didnt even kno the ILM uses it. wow.

Cheers Jay.

Oh by the way anything ud like to see changed or added?

Thanks

concorddawned 05-03-2006 01:07 PM

Cheers darijo but i dont think the sky will look like that for too much longer ;) ,

Ive got some plans for it.

Jay 05-03-2006 01:37 PM

ConcordeDawned (Jaster Mereel?)

I think the foothills in the back could be a little bigger and maybe you could add some trees, as Im sure with these amount of plants, there'd be some as well

Cheers
Jay

Thanks Jay,

My names Rob actually :p, ive rearranged those foothills and added a tree hehe,

Ive changed my lighting to a radiosity setup and the render is going to take atleast 8 hours so ill do that later.

Ill post a GI setup in an hour or so.

Cheers

Oh and heres another scene im working on.

tiddles 06-03-2006 05:01 AM

Very NICE work mate!

Water looks real to me & very interesting light & shadows.

concorddawned 06-03-2006 05:10 AM

Thanx mate, i think i need to lighten the scene a bit tho, just seems a bit dark.

If you need any help on your scene tiddles just let me know

;),

Cheers.

t1ck135 06-03-2006 09:32 AM

nice work :)

reminds me a little of the bugs life island only in the wet season. The current lighting makes it look like there should be lots of mist about.

The sunshine island scene you posted is great! I'd say the trees/land should be a lot brighter though.

Post a link to a 1280x1200 (jpg?) file hosted somewhere else - we can then appreciate the detail more :)

concorddawned 06-03-2006 09:57 AM

Sounds like a plan mate i might even put a few tga's up aswell.

May take a while to render tho :headbang:

They will be definatly uploaded by tommorow.

Cheers

Oh and about the mist, ill add some in for you :p

micgaz 06-03-2006 08:22 PM

Hi,

beautiful work there, sure looks like a great app. I hope so coz I have it on the way. ;)

how do you get your Maya files into Vue exactly, please?

cheers,
mic

concorddawned 06-03-2006 10:55 PM

Hey Mic,

Its easy really you just export your object from maya as an OBJ file, and in Vue goto file ----> import object, select ur maya object and tada ur object is in the scene.

How long till you get Vue? Itll be good to compare work as not many people have it.

Cheers

micgaz 06-03-2006 11:06 PM

Hey Rob,

It is, or was in Paris today. I hope it may be here either tomorrow or the day after. I cant wait.

I will gladly post up some stuff as soon as I get some results that are worth it. I will look at your stuff as inspiration.....;)

Looks like it will be a great app for providing a setting for some of my Maya stuff. So much to learn....

cheers for straightening that out for me,
see ya,
mic

concorddawned 06-03-2006 11:14 PM

I said id Post a Higher Res Pic

Here It Is

Oasis Pic

DJbLAZER 07-03-2006 02:01 AM

Very good looking! How long did the render take?

concorddawned 07-03-2006 02:05 AM

5 1/2 hours, so not too bad.

Im setting up a website now and ill upload all my high quality pics as all my images that ive posted are heavily compressed.

Anyone have any Landscape or Scene ideas that i can try and create?

Cheers.

concorddawned 07-03-2006 03:31 AM

Heres an animation im working on, sorry bout the poor quality (320x240 haha) but i needed a preview quick.

Cheers

gohan1842 07-03-2006 06:17 AM

Looks like the next Ice Age movie coming along lol.

concorddawned 07-03-2006 06:48 AM

haha, well itll be a good one. ;)

im just doing a still render of it now with different lighting..

GI lighting takes atleast 15hrs lol hate to think what radiosity would be like...

magicsy 07-03-2006 08:22 AM

i think Gi takes so long cause im not sure u should use it on a outside scene as the photons emitted just fly off into space or something which means they take forever to calculate. thats why u have huge render times.

concorddawned 07-03-2006 08:27 AM

Yeah the lighting looks great with GI but ive switched to global ambience, so ill post a pic as soon as that renders

:headbang:

1hr 58min till renders done

BRUTICUS 07-03-2006 10:25 PM

coming along nicely man, really interesting setting, I do think there is a lot of stuff going on and i'm not sure you need all of it... the moon seems to stand out and take away from your work.

Remember your light source. It appears the sun is in the upper left hand corner of the image, beyond somewhere. But the moon has its shadow on the other side......

concorddawned 07-03-2006 10:29 PM

Yeah i havent had time to update, with renders taking so long.

I think im gonna put the oasis scene on hold for a bit and work on some other things.

Cheers

THX1138 08-03-2006 04:41 AM

Very nice renders!! I would like a tut on this scene you posted, if you don't mind. Mine would look alot different of course.

http://forum.simplymaya.com/attachme...&postid=188012

concorddawned 08-03-2006 06:17 AM

Id love to but that was only an example of a landscape i made in vue, i import my maya models into vue to create my scenes, i find it hard to create a scene in maya as i can create landscapes in vue 1000 times better than maya.

On the other hand if you have vue i can walk you through it.
I can definatly say it brings your maya creations to life.

Cheers.

Ex-Vin 08-03-2006 07:00 AM

The scene complexity that can be acheived in Vue is stunning -- not to say that Maya couldn't do it...;)

Is Vue easy to learn compared to Maya, because I'm very intrigued with what I've seen so far and might even consider getting into it myself?

concorddawned 08-03-2006 07:04 AM

Your right maya could do it but i dont think ill live that long :p
(im 20)

Vue is awesome its worth every dollar. Brings your Maya creations to life.

And yes its easy to learn due to the kickstart tutorials that came with it were all i needed to get going. After those i was making scenes like above. Well maybe after a bit of practice.

Cheers.

Ex-Vin 08-03-2006 07:07 AM

Wow, that was quick!

Well, in that case, I'm definitely going to look into getting it.
Thanx for the info...

Bit too big to post here, oh and i did this one yesterday

meredith 15-03-2006 06:20 AM

omg omg i wish i could model scenes like this! Good work bro, keep them coming :attn:

DJbLAZER 16-03-2006 02:54 AM

It's not that hard in Vue actually. A scene like that takes like 5 minutes to "model". And then an eternity to render.

concorddawned 16-03-2006 03:02 AM

You hit the nail on the head blazer you can create images like above in 5min but the good thing is they seem to amaze ppl even tho they are so easy to make. Now as i can get into the advanced side of vue, things dont take 5min anymore, like using displacement from real terrains from arround the world creating my own tree and rock textures. Gets a bit more complicated then. But all in all its a great program.

Like you said about rendertimes..I think the above image took around 7hrs lol.

vladimirjp 16-03-2006 04:15 AM

i guess ur cheating too using vue yea? :p ;)
