Full House Project

1 Attachment(s)
Hey guys.
I've got this house project going on at school. I'm going to be updating this thread with the new rooms and bits and pieces until its all done.
Comments and crits are welcome as always, and much appreciated.

The first shot is my bathroom. I have modeled everything in it and textured everything but the floors and the walls so far.

Almost done with all the geometry for the kitchen so here is another update.

All that is left to build in this one is:
Knobs for the stove on the island, Lights, Place settings for the table, bar stools, and a few other accessories like a microwave and a toaster.

I just started using maxwell so this is my first maxwell render to boot.

Comments and crits always welcomed and appreciated.

Looks nice. How long did these take to render?

the bathroom about 7 minutes at home, and the kitchen shots each about 4 minutes at home.

All the modeling is done... For now.

Hello alexanderH, very nice models ;) . I just wondering about it high or low, can you show us wireframe some parts?

Cheers!

Hey lealar, here is the kitchen wire as requested. I'll throw in the bathroom when I get back to working in it.
For the sake of the forums I fliped my image 90 degress because my widescreen capture is a little wider than 640.

wireframe looks pretty good, but now i have a crick in my neck...

I just turn my monitor 90 degrees and the neck problem goes away.

i honestly think that although the design of the cabinetry is really cool, the chairs are the highlight. they're like a cross between modern and retro...

alexanderH 03-03-2008 10:39 PM

we'll see what happens after I texture it:)
haha it's being a bit of a hog.
It is coming, slowly but surely though.

Thanks a lot NeoStrider. The project is coming along nicely. Though due to the deadline I don't have time to add all the model details I'd like to. So I am going to try and spruce it up even more for my demo reel. That along with all my other projects up here so far:P
But yes I agree, having walls and windows and environment helps things a lot!

@Mr Pix. - The colour renders were done in Mental Ray. All of the Grey/White renders so far were done in maxwell.
But the mental ray renders took a lot more planning, thought, and tweaking.
Thanks for the comments guys! More work is soon to come.

Things have started to take colourful shape:)

The full 720p HD images can be viewed here.
A lot of progress though slow at times as rendering takes a lot of time now. Overall just continuing with tweaks and finishing up the office and the kitchen. So those should follow in the next few days or so.

Comments and crits are welcome as always.
I may make a few changes to this scene yet, as far as adding towels and changing the door possibly.
Otherwise I am pretty darn happy with how it has turned out thus far.

maybe it's just me, but i didn't see a flusher on that toilet...

what, is it one of those proximity sensor auto-flushers? :P

alexanderH 13-03-2008 08:55 PM

I guess I better look at the renders and make another with that side of the objects viewable haha. The only object not visible in the renders is the flusher. But it is there!

anasasis 21-03-2008 07:46 PM

great render i you dont mind me asking what type of lighting setup did u use is it physical sun sky or what they have turned out great

alexanderH 22-03-2008 12:41 AM

Hey anasasis. I started with the physical sun as a base. But being that there is a roof, floor combined with the angle of sun there really wasn't much light provided for this room.
What it helped to do was soften the light overall.
All that was added was an area light where the window is and another up where the skylight is.
GI helped to even the lighting out overall and a LOT of tweaks to both area lights.

Probably over 20 hours spent on this lighting setup to get it as clean as it is. If you're more interested in the actual numbers and placement of the lights let me know and I can get all that down for you.
