If my computer can't take the final scene with those high poly speakers i'll use this low poly one. It's got around 40,000 less faces.

Hey Ckyuk!
You have a bit of a head start with your speakers and pen, but I will try to catch up. I attach an reference pic for my workplace. Good luck and have fun.

ckyuk 02-08-2003 11:25 AM

I'll try and finish a day early to make up for the headstart.

I'll get a photo uploaded when i find some battries for my camera as the only one i've got was taken with a flash and removes all the shadows.

Those were the low poly speakers. Do you think i need to use the high poly ones?

Vampus 02-08-2003 12:37 PM

Nah, from this distance, I doubt you could tell the difference.

ckyuk 02-08-2003 12:45 PM

ok, i'll use the low poly ones then as my computer runs about ten times faster with them. Here's a photo of my workspace.

quick book (about two minutes)

Vampus 02-08-2003 12:54 PM

tisk tisk tisk, you should have waited til you had completed your final render, then tagged the real pic as final render, and the rinal render as pic and see if anyone could spot the difference.:p

Vampus 02-08-2003 12:57 PM

Book looks good, but I suggest adding sime lines to the white page area to make it look like pages, not one big mass. For extra credit, try "flaring" one of the page's corners to look as if it has been read alot :)

ckyuk 02-08-2003 01:02 PM

It was supposed to have lines in the white area but they didn't show up in the render. I'll try and fix it.

That better?

Vampus 02-08-2003 01:19 PM

Still doesn't look right. maybe it's too "clean"

ckyuk 02-08-2003 01:23 PM

What do you mean by clean? If you mean that it's not covered in dirt and stains it's only three days old.

Vampus 02-08-2003 01:33 PM

i don't mean the book itself, more the turned up corner.

Ok, I'll turn it up sharper and add some more detail to it later today like a frayed edge.

About ten minutes into my monitor.

ckyuk 02-08-2003 01:55 PM

Are we allowed to vote for our own?

BabyDuck 02-08-2003 02:21 PM

well, maybe better not to vote for yourself. but then you had to ask M about it.

and the monitor - it would be cooler if you apply a differant screenshot in the monitor - maybe showing how you create the screen itself - that would be nice :)

New screen then.

I've decided i won't vote on mine and fredriksson's work.

monitor

EagleKing 02-08-2003 03:46 PM

the monitor looks great but why don't you make the backfround white or add some more lights? We can't see everything of the monitor.. hehe

Witchy 02-08-2003 03:48 PM

Looking good, but didn't you make some of those models before the competition started?

Vampus 02-08-2003 04:08 PM

Ah, see, now Fredriksson will vote for his, and you'll be down a vote :argue:

I say both vote for your own work, thus nulling both your votes:)
