wacom intuos l4
 

Hi at all!
I´m thinking about to buy a wacom tablet, because in my opinion, to work with a mouse is very unprecise.
Have you any practice or some reasons to buy or not??

I know it is mainly for PS and programs like that but I can´t believe that the wacom functionality for maya is only for the canvas or the paint wheigts tool!

How is it to Work with maya and a Wacom tablet???
Can you model better than with a mouse???

z-brush!!! needs a tablet best tablet out their is wacom maya can be handled very capably with a mouse but then when it comes to texture painting you need a tablet. By need i mean you can scrape by without one but you will see your work come on in leaps and bounds when you buy one

Yeah you will need one ... I work a lot without tablet and when i get one my work vastly improve !

So yes !

Reasons to buy;
-better sculpting
-no RSI

-Reason not to buy;
Tablets are expensive :)

Cost is a reason, but quality is a approach to life!!
Ok real quality comes from the artist and not from his tools, but I wouldn´t say that I´m the greatest, (in fact my name here is a joke!!!:bandit: )
but when it can help me to improve my work than yes I buy one!!!

I will buy a new Monitor too and in fact the wacom tablets are in 16:10 Format, which are in the same aspect than the most Displays..
My fafourite display is unfortunately in real HD so in 16:9!
Is it a problem to work with that different aspects!
I mean the stylus in x would have a 1 to1 representation of the display, but in y it is a little distortion!? Or not?

Not a wacom mate!

I use a trust cheepo one but Ive tried a wacom and there worth their money, once you get into them there superb.

Once my trust gives it up then i'll get an intuos no probs

I get my wacom Grapher A6 for 40$ from Ebay second hand ;)

The small bamboo fun is great but dont by a bamboo one (the contact between the pen and the surface is crapy).

You can configure your tablet to use the area you want and adapt it to the proportions of the screen.

About the question if it is good for modeling and the like, there is no possible discusion, when you get used to it, you will end up drawing better than in a paper, because the paper cant be zoomed. Not to speak about how easily you can model in zbrush, an absolute pleasure.

I can´t wait to get my wacom!!! All your answers are so pretty pro.choice that I have no other chance as to buy a wacom intuos l5 m!!

i just bought a wacom intuos 4 not so long ago

i found it most useful for photoshop and zbrush, although photoshop cs3 doesn't seem to react to pressure after the drivers were first installed. but i've seen a solution.. haven't tried it yet

the best part is that you can customize the 8 buttons and the four scroll modes to specific programs
it's awesome

i was going to (still will) make a video of it, but i haven't had a time where people in the house aren't sleeping...
