That's funny :lmao:

You've come to a web site where they specialise in selling Video Tutorial and you're saying people shouldn't use them. Now that's a good one.

Ok, its allways best to explore by your self but its a long way to go.

Personaly I began by clicking the buttons and see what it does...very primitive and slow but you get in depth of every segment so its easier to solve problems.
I always have a need to get know why something works that way, what's happening under the hood.

DVDs can explan some tools very fast but its on you to figure the rest and go more into the details.
You can see others approaches and styles and compare them to yours....ooo thats a lot easier way to do it but it wont let me get enough control, but render is a lot faster...

So I suggest buy books, DVDs, explore, develope but dont forget artistic side of CG!

By the way I just got ZBrush-->very easy and fast to learn.

You must have been to post it on a site that's all about Tutorials and sharing ideas and techniques. It wasn't a complete waste, I'm sure we all got a laugh out of it.

I hope you have more thoughts and wisdom share?

Cheers
Paul

heh, dvds arnt for copying style in CG its more for workflow and technique.

If you follow a tutorial and simply copy what the teacher does it can be pointless but you may learn somthing quicker than someone who is guess work, and then appy what you did in the dvd tutorial and apply it to your own work.

For examples with Nurbs modelling and rigging its not the easiest thing to learn on your own and DVDs and videos offer a fast way to learn the principles.
