I should know this, but......
I'm trying to merge a guy's foot with his body. Two separate objects. Body is smoothed (modeled whole thing after pressing 3) and foot is not smoothed (ie; pressing 1). How do I merge them so that the foot stays unsmoothed and the boy stays rounded and smoothed without one changing the other?

I'm not even so sure that's even possible as its mainly a hardware preview/MR rendering for Maya2k9+ thing rather than a geometry altering thing.
