My first try at Maya modelling. 99% nurbs with a few poly primatives as stand-ins for some parts I haven't got around to doing yet. Still lots of details to do, but I figure it would be better to do the big pieces first to get a feel for the form, then go back to do the small details after. C&C welcome!

Looking good man, I like the hdri like material...keep going

Thanks esion, I basically followed a mental ray FG tutorial for the lighting. Came out much better than the default software renders. I get some weird shadow aretifacts (sp?) though, around the arms, and hips.

Thanks antiant, before Maya the only other packages I've used were Pov-Ray, and Povlab (modeller for Povray) years ago when I was in high school....I much prefer Maya ;)

This is really cool!

I used to read the comic books, and it totally has a patlabor feel to it... so nice and clean!

Keep up the good work.

Sorry for the slow reply, haven't had much time to work on this lately.

13th_resident - LOL I think my Patlabour will need a bigger gun than the little revolver the Patlabours are usually pictured with to take on those mechs!

Did some work on the hands and feet. Hands look a little weird in that karate chop pose, but I figure it will probably be easier to rig that way.

Hopefully I'll be getting my new comp and Maya 8 soon and will be able to work on this more often!

Thanks for the comments,
