can someone tell me what is a normal wheel and body polycount.

mtmckinley 09-12-2004 12:28 AM

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just keep it all under 7000. Obviously, you won't have perfectly round wheels, but alot as many as you think necessary to them.

thanks Mike. I have currently about 500 faces counting in one wheel. 2 body sides have about 250faces. I want to add some more details like side skirts, back bumber and into hood some holes :)

Good work, keep at it!

One thing you can do for the spokes of the wheels is make them a texture detail rather than a geometry detail. Use transparancy maps to cut in the holes.

Thnx for all those good comments.
But I have a problem that has pissed me off. When I extrude a face and move it it turns black and stays that way eaven when rendered.

Check if the normals are flipped, or just soften/harden the normals.

Reimo005 12-12-2004 12:21 AM

Allready tried this and it didn't work.

13uRneR 12-12-2004 02:24 AM

use region select over a vertex and make sure there is only 1 and not 2 overlapping, if there are 2 you need to merge vertices, make sure the face normal is facing outward, and lastly check and see if there are 2 faces overlapping also try smoothing

check your extrude options, make sure keep faces together is on

lookin good though, keep it up and youl be done in no time

Reimo005 13-12-2004 06:11 AM

I stll don't know what wos the problem but I got over it when extracting the problematical faces and then again merging them together.

Looking good, although as 13uRneR said you'll need to watch the scale of the rest of the scene.
