Texturing 3D bump probs
Hi all,
I've been doing an animation of blood cells and have attached some solid fractals and ramp shaders to the cells which looks great as a still but when I render an animation the texture appears to float over the cells instead of staying attached to them. Here's the link to the animation: http://web.mac.com/simontaylorfilms/iWeb/cellsweb.mov Hope that clarifies what I mean :-S I would really appreciate anyone's advice. I'm not very good at explaining these things as I'm really new to texturing in maya. Below is the link to the actual Maya file. http://web.mac.com/simontaylorfilms/iWeb/bloodcells.mb Many many thanks in advance, this is really confusing me! All the best Simon |
did you use a 3d placement node for the texures? as I think that might be your problem, if do group the palcement node to the cells do they all move at once.
Or bake the textures to a 2d file node (withch probably will render faster too |
How do I do either of those things you suggested? I did this following a tutorial so I'm not entirely sure on everything I did :-s

i'm pretty sure it's as easy as selecting the cell, then the 3d placement node, and pressing g (for group).
|
I highlighted all the cells, then the placement nodes and grouped them but still no luck :-(

try animating a group (of cell and 3d placement node together) and see if it still swims. if you already tried that and you still get swimming texture, try looking into creating a 'texture reference object' (a help search of words between quotes tells you all about how to do it)
