// Error: line 0: Error reading file.
Hi there. I worked on a project one week. Once I restarted my computer [I saved the file first]. When I tried to open my .mb this error showed: // Error: line 0: Error reading file.
This is what showed up in the script editor: file -f -options "v=0;" -typ "mayaBinary" -o "D:/My Documents/Desktop/ /Others/Maya Rigs/Cool Guy/cool guy.mb";addRecentFile("D:/My Documents/Desktop/ /Others/Maya Rigs/Cool Guy/cool guy.mb", "mayaBinary"); // File read in 0 seconds. // // Warning: line 0: swatches file depend node not found, icon discarded: lambert13 // // Warning: line 0: swatches file depend node not found, icon discarded: MouthBlack // // Warning: line 0: swatches file depend node not found, icon discarded: EyesWhite // // Warning: line 0: swatches file depend node not found, icon discarded: CP // // Warning: line 0: swatches file depend node not found, icon discarded: Pupils // // Warning: line 0: swatches file depend node not found, icon discarded: green // // Warning: line 0: swatches file depend node not found, icon discarded: Transparent // // Warning: line 0: swatches file depend node not found, icon discarded: Hair // // Warning: line 0: swatches file depend node not found, icon discarded: Eyebrows // // Warning: line 0: swatches file depend node not found, icon discarded: Fingers1 // // Warning: line 0: swatches file depend node not found, icon discarded: pasted__Fingers1 // // Warning: line 0: swatches file depend node not found, icon discarded: lambert4 // // Warning: line 0: swatches file depend node not found, icon discarded: file1 // // Warning: line 0: swatches file depend node not found, icon discarded: pasted__lambert2 // // Error: line 0: Error reading file. // // Error: line 0: Error reading file. // |
Most likely your file has been corrupted. If it is, you're kinda SOL when saving with .mb. With .ma, you can (sometimes) recover your information. Hopefully you have backups.
|
First question: what is SOL :D
Second question: what is the different between .mb and .ma? Third question: can I recover my scene? |
1) http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=S.O.L.
2) http://simplymaya.com/forum/showpost...0&postcount=14 3) You can try zipping and uploading your file here and see if anyone else can open it. |

I opened the file in a hex editor (allows me to take a look at binary files) and there is absolutely zero information in the file; it's all zeros. Sorry, but it's gone.
|
Ohhh.... :( I had a backup on 1/4 of the process.. So I will start it from there.. Thanks for the attention :)

Don't think this thread is in the right place, but I have exact same issue. My file is attached. Please, tell me it's not all zeroes :( I've been working for a week on this and I made backup ages ago. :help:
Why is this stuff happening anyway? |

Hi Lokjutus, the file is fine. It is still intact. It is a Maya 2014 file.
|
Thank you PixalZA. It's in Maya 2014 - that I completely forgot. I was trying out Maya 2014 and without thinking I overwrote my Maya 2012 file. Is there any way to get it back to 2012? Because I don't think I will finish this project by the time my 2014 trial period ends.
|
Easiest is to export your geometry to obj or fbx and import it into 2012.
|
Thhank you very much for that, I will try it.
|
Or export as a .ma, and when opening the scene, check "Ignore version".
|
Woops
uhm... I failed a little bit
