Units of measure - basic setup
 

I do not know how to set the units of measure so I can see what size I am creating objects on the grid. The grid box shows units but does not allow you to choose the units of measure. I must be on the wrong path. I have tried preferences - no luck and the help files - even less. Thanks if you can set me straight.
