max - discontinued
i have heard over the last few weeks that autodesk are going to stop producing 3D max.
i have heard this from various ppl including ppl from the industry but i cant find no sources for the info any1 heard anything about this? cheers |
I must say that I doubt it. Max is, despite what I think, a well respected, and well used, software, and I do not believe that Autodesk would put their lives, and respect, on such a high and lonely limb. Max is the most widely used 3D software, unless I am mistaken, and Autodesk knows that. Unless they are merging Maya and Max, it doesn't seem at all possible.
That too would be a big mistake on their part. No word yet from the internet on the topic though, I will keep an eye or two out for any news. -Andy |
The biggest 3d application community, is with MAX.So it is impossible to discontinue sth, which has this kind of backbone.

I very very highly doubt it.

Nah they won't pull the plug on Max, they'd cut their own throats.

There was an autodesk stand at an event I was at over the weekend, I asked and got the look of someone who's lost their marbles, so I would doubt it!

I wouldn't be surprised if they started phasing it out slowly, if and when they come out with a new flagship application.
But yes. Discontinuing it would make a huge outcry in the 3d industry. At work, we use 3ds max mostly. Our pipeline is developed for it, etc. So no. I don't think they will just cancel it. |
