3d glasses?

Alright so everyone has seen a movie atleast once where you have to wear the 3d glasses.

Say I made a short animation of something coming towards the camera, how would I go about making it with this effect so that I can use 3d glasses to make it look like it's popping out at me?

That would involve create 3D Steroscopic stuff, I believe that Maya 2009 has support for it, so you would have to look into it there.

alright thanks, I have no idea how to go about doing that was just questioning because my girlfriends daughter got Polar Express 3d with the glasses and I wanted to see if I could do the same kind of fx.

any other ideas would be helpful if Maya '09 doesn't do it.

oh yeah it has the stereoscopic camera setup so this should hopefully do what I'm looking for

I actually tried this a while ago.

IF you are only using the standard 'Red Green' or 'Red Blue' Glasses just set up the Stereo camera, it should render two sets of the same scene. Then take it into Aftereffect (if you have it, im sure other programs have similar features) And their are options to convert the two sets of frames into stereo 3d.

I also tried this with 3D Shutter glasses and the effect was very impressive because i could control the zoom, focus ext.
Good luck and have fun

hey thanks for the advice I've been looking all over for help files or tutorials that could help me out.

I think theres a plug in for PS that does the red/green job for you.

I had a look into it, very briefly, as it was one of the "killer tips" in, well the maya Killer Tips book! But never got round to giving it a go.

If you want i'll scan it in and mail it to you, though it wont be unitle the new year as the books a t work, but its there if you want it (and/or you've not got the book, though its a good buy, it gives 1/2 paragraph short, tips for setting up, modeling, lighting, rendering and scripting)

Hey man,

No probs, just mail me to make sure I've got a up to date mail.

Though as I said to Mike, its not a great explanation but if your into the lingo and the research into it all it will be pretty much useless (and it might be poo if you know) but at least its a start!!

Cheers

Steve
