da shield!

For all the guys on #simplymaya who wanted to see it ( and for everyone else who has a cool idea for it ) here's my shield! I wanted to test in what ways I could create an 'absorbing shield' and came up with this. Anyone have any suggestions on how to improve the concept ( I can perfectise the thing later when I play around with it a bit ).

PS: I've made the normally invisible sphere on wich the beam collides a little bit blue, to make the effect more ... .... you know! :P. The rock in the middle (if you can see it) is just to illustrate that an object could summon such a shield and be in the center. The yellow beam is a direct. beam wich's direction shifts over 100 frames, therefore the bent beam :). :D any tips?

Here's the anim. D'oh, I had to cut the size twice, because of a few lowsy bytes :(. So pardon the low quality

Just because Dirack is too f***ing lazy to log the IRC chat, here are my comments. ;)

Code:

12:10:22:<Dirack> so, what ya think? :(
12:10:36:<danny> looks ok
12:10:45:<danny> might be nice to see more effect on the shield
12:11:07:<danny> maybe have some fluctuations in the shield's surface or something
12:11:16:<danny> color distortions, waves, etcs
12:11:21:<danny> etc*
12:11:25:<danny> damn, can't type :P
12:12:11:<Dirack> :)
