A question about Ray Tracing
Hi!
I have a character which I want to put glasses on. But I don't want to use ray trace on the whole figure when I render it, only the glasses. So the question is: How do I Ray trace a part of the model and not the whole character? By the way, the glasses is not modelled into the character's head, it's a standalone object. Any suggestions? :) |
you should probably just render it in two steps. once with raytracing off and dmap shadows on. after that select the whole character and turn off primary visibility (make sure visible in refractions is on). then render it again with raytracing on. go to photoshop and combine the two images.
maybe there's a way to do it all in one render but i doubt it. good luck, tiz |
will just ray tracing the sunglasses affect your render time that much? Just turn off ray tracing on the other objects which would usually ray trace by default due to specular/ reflective values.

Thanks guys:D

turn off visible in reflections/refractions for all objects you don't want to raytrace. hint>> select them all and then use the attribute spreadsheet to do it
