how to model boots?
im having a lot of trouble modeling boots/shoes.
could anyone give me a good idea how I should start? a link to any good tutorials/workflow vids would be helpful. thank you. |
In a way you could apply the same technique as box modelling a car. Get a front and side view reference shot of the boot/shoe first and then look around on the net for maya car tutorials. Apply the same technique and you should come out with something half decent :)

You may try the excellent Joan of Arc's tutorial http://www.3dtotal.com/ffa/tutorials...armourleg1.asp
it's for 3dmax, but you can adapt to Maya with ease. |
i also have the same problem... thx for the tut

Any ideas on how to model those scales (pictured)? I think it all needs to be one mesh since I need to pose him and the legs of the boot need to follow the leg bones. Not crazy about modeling individual scales all the way up the leg (ugh). Could perhaps a texture work as opposed to modeling the scales? I’m not sure because the scales actually flare out. For more
