How do I merge a Vertex "onto" another?

Helly everyone,

I need to merge two Vertecies but I don't want to merge them between themselfes. I want Vertex A to merge "onto" Vertex B. Don't remember how that works. :(

That's what I don't want:

just select the 2 you want merged, and merge em... should work

I think what you want to do is use snap to point and then move the vertex you want on top to the other point. I hope I said it clearly enough, but I doubt it.

Well, I knew a method how I could move Vertex A directly onto Vertex B so that the distance between them was 0, Vertex A "snapped" onto Vertex B. Then I merged them. My problem is that I forgot how to do that.

I hope that explains my problem a bit better. Sorry for my bad english. :(

After selecting the vertex you want to move onto some other, press "v", to enable vert./CV snapping.
Then simply "drag&snap" the selected vert onto some other.
Finally, yes, re-select & merge verts.

ps: a much faster way to do that is to download and install the Bonus Tools. Inside this tools package, jut use the Poly Vertex Merge. Much faster. Click the vertexToMove, click the target. Done. ;)

you need to drag it with the midle mouse button though.. otherwise it doesnt work :headbang: Missed this part also allot

It works for me -- if you use the move tool.

When you press v (snap-to-vertex) the center square will turn to a circle -- you can then move the vertex to any other vertex.

Thanks guys! This allows me to continue my work. Didn't have the nerves / time to find it out all by myself.

Remember -- it pays to learn to "brute force" your way around instead of looking for the by-the-book method all the time. Think of your task in components:

What do I need to do?

1) Get the vertexes to overlap
2) Merge them.
