How can I change my mb. file into others like 3dm. or obj.?

I have noticed that I can save my projects as mb. and ma. and i can import a whole bunch of other files such as 3dm, but I dont know how to convert my mb. file to 3dm. Do i have to buy some other software to convert it?

some of the export options come pre installed you simply have to load them from the plugin manager

Window setting/preference/plugin manager

look for objexport.mll

I believe 3dsImport.mll comes with bonus tools which is a free download from Autodesk anyhow if you load these
plugins then they will be an option when you choose to export a file.

you'd need a plugin to export any format that Maya doesn't do natively. It can export .obj natively. You may need to turn it on in the plugins window under settings/preferences.
