Best = Maya 2008 = Books / Tutorials for a beginner?

Searching on "books" here turns up a number of recommendations... but all for older versions of Maya.

Searching on tutorials turns up various recommendations... but again, it seems most are for older versions... though sometimes its hard to figure out if it has been updated for the latest version.

If anyone can recommend good Maya 2008 specific resources, I would be grateful. (She has done the basic Autodesk tutorials... she found those a bit too basic.)
