Graphics Tablet ?
 

Would getting a graphics tab help me out much when it comes to using maya, was maybe thinking about the surface sculpt, paint weight, paint FX and curves etc.

It doesnt really bother me shelling out a cppl of hundred for a decent one but i just wanted a bit of input (any would be much appreciated)

If you write real small a small one might sute you.. if you have a good space or are willing to make the room I would get one of the 12x9's, especaly if you are use to paining on canvase.. closer to a 1 to 1 ratio to the screen helps.. unless your hand motions are small and not fluid. Ei, like the mouse alot and really in to 3d and not much other art.

There was a recent talk in the GCTalk forum about this. The consensus was that the 6x8 was the best, unless you plan to remap some area of the palette. None of the users who had a 8x12 said that they used fully, they all remaped the excess area.

If you can afford it, go for the intuos, I have tried teh Graphire and I prefered the Intuos. It gave my sketch a more 'pencil' look, but the difference is very small so dont feel bad to take a Graphire!

BTW, it take a while to get used to the tablet so try using it as much as you can, you will improve very quickly.

Why spend a few hundred. Hunt around, especially low key computer shops for 3rd party ones. some of them are surprisingly good. I have a huge pad and it only cost $40, Dont use it often(i assume if i textured more ide need it more.) But not bad.

Personally if i could go back i might get a smaller one for the space. but i use mine as a mousepad too...
