maya 2009?
 

Hi - i'm thinking about getting the latest version of maya. I'm wondering if anyone knows whether autodesk is planning to release a new version soon or are just going to release service packs for a while.

I did a search for maya 2009 but didn't really find anything.

Didn't Max '09 come out a while back?

yeah - i think so.

yea im waiting for maya 2009 to, i have maya 8.0, I figured its time to maybe upgrade, even tho i might just wait longer for 2010.

Wait for Siggraph

At the SCA in dublin (euro siggraph conference) Jos Stam is doing a talk on unified dynamics slovers, with demos, which I would think is going to be nucleus for the rest of dynamics, muscle and the updates in Ex1+2 will be in there.

But I would wait till siggraph anouncements before commitiing to anything as thats the time of any major updates this far in the year.

Haven't a clue what will be in unlim or complete though.

I only got maya version 7 :( ile probably get the new one.

I wonder when they gonna fix the bugs that've been plagueing me since I started using Maya, 6.5. They are still there in 2008. Unbelievable.

DJ, do you use a MAC?

Maya is inherently buggy on the MAC OS's... LOL

what bugs are bugging you guys? i'm just curious cos i'm never sure if it's just me (i tend to break computers when i look at them).

my main problem is always having to load mental ray in the plug in manager.

The only bug I get is when I am using Perspective mode and rotating and moving round a model, It can go a bit "funny". I fix it by going into the othrographic modes and back into persp. I suspect it either a VGA Driver issue or a problmed Maya has with my DrirectX. Ill let you know when I do :p

yeah you'll definitely see Maya 2009 at siggraph. The latest they'll release is in the fall. It'll probably be worth the wait though. My friend was talking about some features in it, but I don't know where he got that info.
