Jan/Feb - Clod - Noob
O.K., I think I'll have a crack at this.
This is gonna be my fist attempt at a "proper" character. He's a big mofo, but unlike most big fighting characters this guy will be quite agile..... presuming I can animate him alright. Here's a few pics: http://homepage.eircom.net/~Sharpsho...0-%20Plane.jpg http://homepage.eircom.net/~Sharpsho...0-%20Plane.jpg This will be his basic stance: http://homepage.eircom.net/~Sharpsho...-%20Stance.jpg |
Well, this is what I've got so far:

Nice start. Welcom to the challenges.
|
very nice start, looks like the detail your going for your going high poly right?
I like the sketch a lot but the side view makes his ass a little large in my opinion... might want to thin it out or get him some liposuction or something. Other than that very nice. |
Well, I didn't want it to be high res, but I haven't properly modelled a character before so I can't really help it. Actually I think I might remove some detail now that you mention it.
His arse might be a bit big in the sketch alright, but I think I've got it under control in 3D :) Here's the latest pics, I'm probably gonna have to remove alot of detail to make it low poly again. BTW, how many polys is low res, and how many is high res? http://homepage.eircom.net/~sharpsho.../Stage%202.jpg http://homepage.eircom.net/~sharpsho...2%20Smooth.jpg http://homepage.eircom.net/~sharpsho...0Wireframe.jpg |
5000 or lower is allowed in the low res version. high res can be any.
5000 faces includes weapons,clothing, armor, everything. |
Finished the body, more or less (bicep needs tidying) and have a head almost finished, unconnected as of yet. I'm thinking of arming him with some butchers knives, a personal favourite of mine. :)

Pretty neat. :)
I'd like to see more definition in the abdomen and lower body, like you have for the torso and arms. |
That top screenshot with the wireframe overlay is supposed to be smooth shaded, but it looks flat shaded. Only the back and abdomen seem to be smooth, strange. Any ideas why?
You're right about the legs, I'm gonna have to define them a bit more. |
Well the body and head are finished. I didn't add any definition to the legs cos I think I'll be giving him some clothes/armour, so they won't be seen.
I'm working on some background history.... http://homepage.eircom.net/~Sharpsho...one_smooth.jpg http://homepage.eircom.net/~Sharpsho...mooth_side.jpg |
i like the definition in the face, very clean from what i can see. Ide give him a little strgoner jaw line to show his power though.
|
Well the body is about finished, time for the texturing.

not a bad model at all, you have a good low to it especially with the muscles. but you need to ix the crese you hae going.
|
Nice job. :)
