Illumination problem
OK folks here is my problem:
Let’s suppose that we have a simple scene: a plane, a cube and a sphere. Now if I put a directional light in scene I want this: - cube to be illuminated and cast shadow - sphere to no drop shadow and to not be illuminated. This is possible? If yes please tell me how? (I know that in 3D Studio Max at the light properties I have the possibility to enable or disable these properties.) I’m waiting for solutions, Arthur. |
select sphere, choose window>attributes editor, click render stats, unclick "cast shadows" box.
|
while we're at it, does anyone know how to make objects reflective? I've tried messing with reflection things in the attributes window, but none seem to reflect anything even when I render the scene. Is it possible to make mirrors?

you have to make sure Raytracing is in effect in you render globals
|
OK Darkware, but my object has not to be illuminated either.
About this where can I check that properties? Arthur |
select sphere, choose window>attributes editor, click render stats, and your back to the same place. There should be a box like "decieve light" or something. Unmark that back. This is the only place it would be in Maya, so just look down the list of items.

I foud it and it wors.
Thanks Darkware. Arthur. |
Sorry I want to mean "WORKS"
Arthur. |
If you mean Max's light exlusion list, that can be found in maya by choosing Window -> Relationship editors -> Light Linking -> Light/Object-Centric.
