First UT2003 Model: Homestar

After countless hours researching how to get maya models working with Unreal Tournament 2003 I finally cracked it. Here is Homestar, of www.homestarrunner.com, in the game.
I think I actually managed to visit every website on the subject. Anyway, here it is. |

The hardest part of the whole process was using the the default animation. I wasnt going to animate 40 odd sequences on my first model.
The default skeleton had bones with spaces in the names. And as we all know maya can't handle spaces. Then I found the "underscore to spaces" option. which sorted all the animations. Only to find the weapon bone still had an underscore. In the end I had to use a hex editor to replace the underscore that maya had just turned into a space. I've since learnt that I can change somethings in UnrealEd so that shouldnt be necesary again. |
He's great, nice job, the one of him lying dead is such a shame lol.
If you wanted to share any techniques on getting models into UT2k3 I for one would be interested in hearing them. Good job on this guy, he certainly stands out in game. |
other than the problem I described above the process is pretty straight forward.
But if there is anything you would like to know I'd be more than happy to explain. |
Haha looks great =D
