Help with Low Poly Texturing/Adjusting UVs for unwrapping.

Hi,

I'm working my way through the Low Poly Character tutorial and have modelled my character and am now onto the texturing section. Modelling was fun and straight forward for a beginner like myself. But unwrapping is something I've never done before and need so assistance.

I've applied a Cylindrical Uv map to the head and neck, unwrapped them, cut and sewn as instructed in the tutorial which is all working out except I'm getting some stretching when I add my checker material which I need to fix.

In the video Kurt adjusts his uv's and in realtime in the perspective window you can see the checker pattern being adjusted accordingly.

But when I adjust my uvs in the uv editor the checker pattern doesn't change at all?

I've attached some screen shots of what I've done so far.

Any tips on how to adjust my uv's so I can get a nice even checker pattern and adjust in real time would be great.

Thanks all!

You have got it wrong.UV modification is not possible from perspective view. You can only select them over there. All the UV modification are done inside UV editor.

Select the head.Goto Window > UV texture Editor.
hold mouse right button and select UV from the menu.
Now u will be able to select uv from the uv map.

Then press W/move tool and move the uv.

sometimes it is hard to select the desired uv from the 2d map.On that condition, u can right click on the model in the perspective view and select that uv(while the UV texture editor is still open)

hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip.
I'm back on track now.

I started all again, but this time I deleted the current Uv set before applying a cylindrical UV map. Which seemed to do the trick.

Apart from some slight stretching on the top of the head and under the chin I'm happy with it.

Finished the head now onto the body.
