Landscaping

I tried creating a mountain seen with a valley and stream.
I made a subdivided NURBS plane and just moved the vertex points up to make this. Then converted to POLYS and smoothed. And this is what i got so far. How can I make this better/more realistic? |
Here's one that can give you good results.
Create a nurbs plane and make sure you have alot u/v Patches. Then Deform -> create Cluster (notice the little C in the middle of your nurbs plane: this is the cluster handle) Afterwards select the nurbs plane and deform->paint cluster weight tool (click the small box to bring up the options pane) Set the value to 0 and press the big Flood button. Now your plane must be black. From there change your paint operation to "Replace" your value ..say 0.6 (experiment with settings ) and make sure you make your brush big enough (double b key and drag on the plane) Paint on the nurbs plane the "weight" map of shades of gray ( first switch to shaded mode of course) The whiter the area..the higher it will go... After you finish, to smooth everything change your operation to "Smooth" and Press the big "Flood" button some times. Your map blends and blurs abit. After that ... Select your "Cluster handle" (the small C) and raise it up as much as you want.... Voila! Hope it helped... Konstantinos |

Konstantinos - Thanks alot. That works great.
the only problem I had was that it I couldn't get it to work with NURBS, I had to use a Polygon plane for it to work. I don't know why. This will take me a litle while to get used to using, but I'll get it. Also, my computer is old and slow, so when I paint, its a litle slow and it lags behind a few seconds but eventually cathes up. Anyway, Thanks for the help. |
