Thirsty anyone??

Tryin my hand with fluid dynamics with that clever little proggy - RealFlow 4. Here is a still from a animation currently rendering (I will post it when uploaded). Render was done in mentalray under a HDRI dome.

Thanks...

Hey looks pretty cool but what is real flow is it a program or a plugin or...

tiddles 11-01-2007 02:19 PM

Hey starjsjswars,

RealFlow is a stand-along program that accepts most common 3D appz exported geometry (including animation). Then allows you to create very realistic fluid effects using preset & customizable emitters for liquids or gas. The resulting mesh can then be re-imported into Maya for rendering etc.

Check it out at:- http://www.nextlimit.com/realflow

Also, The test animation is now complete and can be downloaded from:-

Have fun!

I like the animiation, good job man. My only sugesstion would be to put some sound in it if its possible.

tiddles 11-01-2007 03:02 PM

Yeah, that would be cool - but it was only a dynamics test. I'm already onto my 2nd, going to try to make red wine this time ;)

goksimaster 11-01-2007 03:34 PM

I like it great effect but I think that some shadows and highlights are to noiseay

gster123 11-01-2007 10:31 PM

Looks great.

How long dooes it take to render a frame?

tiddles 11-01-2007 10:59 PM

Well the actual render from maya wasn't too bad - about 2 mins per frame. But RealFlow had to 1st calc. the mesh and that took a few hours (I left it running over night ;))

The next test has wine pouring from a bottle into a glass & is takin it's sweet time. But I spoze once I get better at using RealFlow, I'll find some shortcuts.

gster123 11-01-2007 11:04 PM

Thought it might take a bit to calculate it.

Can you get a free trial of realflow?

tiddles 12-01-2007 06:28 AM

Yep - http://www.nextlimit.com/realflow/try.htm :attn:

I'm not sure of the trial's limitations but I hope you can make some cool (if not wet) stuff!

Now I know this isn't the WIP area, but I'd just like to post the 2nd RealFlow test scene while my PC is busy simulating the fluids. The lighting isn't perfect, but I did try to keep the scene very plain in order to make the fluids stand out as much as possible.

By the way - the idea came from a wine glass modeled by happymat27 (http://forum.simplymaya.com/showthre...threadid=24246)

Thanks...

Bottoms up...

I'm happy with how this simulation turned out (it's however taking a while to render in Maya).

While we wait, here is a single still to 'wet' your appetite.

Cheers!

happymat27 13-01-2007 01:06 PM

Hey there Dave,

that looks really cool. I got a demo of Realflow 3 on the front of 3dworld ages ago but never really looked into it, how do you rate Realflow in the ease of use department?

Cheers,

Mat.

tiddles 13-01-2007 01:19 PM

Hey Mat,

RF4 seems more intuitive then RF3 with many of the mesh/particle cache settings automated. A background in Maya sure helps as a lot of the camera & transiton tools are very similar. Took me less that an hour to become familiar with it.

MattTheMan 13-01-2007 11:07 PM

that first one looks great! the caustics came up very clear :)

I dont know about the second one though... ;)

wine itself looks good but I think you should try to get the caustics clearer

good work, keep it up!
