crude, but my first rigged character, and its first animation ;)

working on the infamous walk-cycle now....

That's pretty good for a first rigged character but a few things could be improved.

A lot of this really depends on what you're going for but, usually when someone jumps they lower their hands as they bend their legs, and if he was looking to jump up, his head would look up first while he's crouching. Besides that, just the timing and parts where the limbs accelerate and decelerate could be tweaked...

But overall nice work.

well, it is still very rough, and I have been draggin with a terrrible chest cold, but here is a new one anyway ;)

I really am curious as to what people think of the walk, is it cool?
Am I on the right track? Please let me know what I need to modify, so I will not make the same mistakes setting up my new animation.

Thanks

Well, no one seems to be commenting, but that's cool. I am continuing to learn animation, and want to stay disciplined by putting up clips to keep me motivated.

This is rough, and the keys are not totally weighted. This is just an excercise.

I would make his elbow wiggle a bit more, look at your own elbow and see how it moves when you wave ..

strobe7 27-02-2004 04:56 PM

good point. I really just made this in a few minutes last night to show a friend here at work, so it is not polished. Thanks for that insight. Now that I see what you mean, it looks REALLY stiff.
thanks!
