First animation

Hi there i want to learn how to animate. There for I created a simple model to experiment with. the body is rigged and I created blendshapes for the occulairs and the skull. And the hands have set drivenkeys on them for fingerrolls.

I have been playing a lot of Starcraft II lately and i enjoy looking a the potraits in the taksbar of the unit you have select. I want to do a sort of similar thing. An animation of 30-60 seconds that loops. Just have him float there and maybe scratch his skull, extend his neck a little, burn his hand because it rested under his engine nozzle or have his head turn 360 degrees, somehing like that.

English is not my native language so please dont mind the spelling errors to much. And let me know what you think.

Cheers,

Jan

Hi Johndoe050
Glad you sorted out your problems, I like his angry look. Sounds like a good idea your short animation hope to see it soon..........dave

It took me quit some time to get the right settings for rendering out the movie without the size beeing huge. In maya I cut op the movie in 3 scenes. I used aftereffects to paste them al together which took me quit some time because i never used aftereffects. For the next animation things should go a lot faster :bandit:. Let me know what you think. Animation

crazy animation!
it looks awesome, especially that spin :D

i get the starcraft 2 portrait feel you were inspired from.

and don't worry if you have lots of spelling and grammar mistakes, most native english speakers don't speak/write very good english either ;)

Sweet work, I really like it. I felt that the spins could use some follow-through, so that the momentum carries it a bit too far, and then correct back.

Thanks Chirone for the kind words. Stwert, I know what you mean, he stops abruptly. I wish I could say I am going to fix it. The problem is I can not focus to long on one project or else I get bored and I drop the project all together. To get some where with 3d this is not a good habbit to have haha.

I know the feeling Johndoe... once you've rendered it out and called it done, it takes a lot of effort to go back and apply the critiques that are given. At least it's possible to apply the critiques to future projects.

Johndoe050 14-10-2010 04:39 PM

And when is it actualy done?

stwert 14-10-2010 04:41 PM

It's done when you consider it worthy of your demo reel, or the director says "approved" :)
