Locking vertices?

I find Sculpt Polygons Tool very handy with a graphics tablet. It's a great tool for finishing up a model (smoothing out etc). But is there a way to lock down certain vertices which I don't want to be moved by the tool?

may be this...

hey dude,
this may not be the ideal way but may be you can "isolate selected" the vertices you DOO want to deform...thus hiding the verrtices you dont want to deform and if it's possible (havent tried it)use the exhact same viewport on the side without isolating any vertices/faces so that you can see your whole mesh.
did i make any sense :)

Yeah, that's a workaround I came up with too. Guess there isn't a way to lock down the vertices. Nothing is perfect ;)
