Photoshop help: Fist punching through earth.
 

I'm looking at creating a fist punching through earth in Photoshop, similar to how the attached image lookes (although with the folds in the hole not being so big).

Any one have any ideas on how i can do this? Would it be a case of manually doing the hole and the folds or is there a feature in PS that would help with this?

Shame SPS isn't aroud anymore ;)

Layers for the tearing. Dodge and burn to add highlights and shading to tear sections. drop shadow done either with a brush or using layer styles.
