Keyframing Photon intensity

Hi,

In my animation, the photon intensity value under my mental ray tab of my direction light, changes as time goes by. I've 'set key' the photon intensity at different frame numbers. As the frame number changes, so does the Photon Intensity value. As I want it to do.

The problem I'm having is that it makes no difference in the rendered image result! I seems to instead, only remember my last photon intensity value input. It's not listening to the changing to the intensity value!

Any suggestions? All help will be appreciated!

thanks!

for what purpose would you want to keyframe your photon intensity?

Well,

I've got this 5 second animation where the sun rises and then sets. The scene is in a room with global illumination.

As the directional light's intensity changes, in the real world, so should the strength of the bouncing light in the room. Which means that as the incoming sunlight weakens, the bouncing light in the room should also weaken.

This is not the case in Maya/ Mental ray. The intensity of the primary light source and the bouncing light are independent. So as I key frame the intensity of the primary lgiht source, the directional light, I'm trying to key frame the photon intensity of my GI to match it.

any suggestions?

Thanks!
