This is my 1st assignment of using MAYA. Please give a comments. My question is w to make sunset coming through the window ? What kind of lights do I need to use ? |
i would use an area light or a multitude of spotlights and see how that works.
i used both of the spotlight and area light. any adjustment for my masterpiece

Some advices, although they're just minor things, looking very good! Try using something like volume fog or depth map to make the lights trough the windows as realistic as possible, look at http://www.thegnomonworkshop.com/tut...s_shadow.html, and try to give every object a shadow with that, it would be in..... un.... arg..... not realistic if they wouldn't in such a bright sunlight. Perhaps the walls could use some noise texturing, to make them look less perfect, and the table's cloth ( don't know how you made it? ) could be just a little more smooth :) . but a very good job! :D
I would be so tempted to dump the Area light... it makes everything look flat and featureless. You may have more joy with directional lights.
directional light ? how to put it ? Put it surround the house ?
i suggest u use final gather, or this
tut will help http://www.3dluvr.com/pixho/tutorial...outDoor_GI.htm along with G_I Joe |
wow great but i cannt download the Skylight control :( thanks very much. its really help!
Hey, this looks cool for your first scene.
I am only a noob, but this is what stood out: Taller bannister (hand rails) - unless hobbits live here :) less symmetry (box lids), and less clutter so it feels believable. Blowing curtains on an unobscured window ;) And the light seems to be a smeared paint brush on the back window? and the tablecloth drapes don't match the angles of the table... but looks cool! |
thanks for the comments .need to redo to satisfy myself
maybe its just me, but i would change the color of the curtains too. looks weird with light colours, make the colors blend with the objects around them. Other than that 10 points to u, nice job.

Thank you for that advice. I'll upgrade it soon
