archways

Hi there

could you do a tutorial on how to do archways please
i wanted to do do a ruined building with a roman look and wanted to do crossing corridor archways, is this possible to do with one object or am i better of to do this using multiple objects, and i really would like it to be polygon, a tutorial on this would be great !

create a cube. Scale it so that it is long and narrow. Add lots of sections to it in the channel bar.

Add a non-linear bend deformer to it. Up the curvature. Bobs your uncle one archway. Do the rest of it with texturing.

that's how you make an archway, what are you having problems with it's fairly clear... start with a cube and then bend it to look like an archyway.

ok my fault .. is it possible to make say a cube with an arched corridor from one end of the cube to the other ? i tried extracting a face from one side of a cube to the other side but couldnt connect it into a symetrical shape

and btw do pros make an object using lots of other duplicate objects combined or do they have supernatural skills and are able to make one complex object from one single mesh ?

just curiouse :)

oh and thanks for simplifying the archways for my nooblike brain :P

I normally make a new piece whenever I feel the need. You wont be able to make all your objects out of one piece but it's a personal choice.

Here's a pic of what I mean.

Thanks

not a problem, if you want to make it more accurate you could do some extruding before you bend it to get the joins in there as well, but that's up to you.
